1 Small explanation / presentation of the
subject
In this passage, the philosopher Thomas
Aquinas defends a clear idea of man: we are rational animals, free,
different, therefore, the other creatures on our rationality, which enables us
to predetermination, to direct our will rationally . That freedom is free will
to live, choosing good and avoiding evil.
As we know, St. Thomas Aquinas, believes
that man is a creature and child of God-especially for its rationality, to
realize that mastery of our decisions and this is because we are able to reason
and will. For the reason we understand, by the will decide. The first addresses
the second and, in that way, we are free. The first principle governing freedom
is the property inscribed into law that makes us right so choose, in the way
that gradually leads to God.
2nd Exhibition of our thesis or approach
Thomas defends an image here, to my view,
our condition as a simple free subjects. No doubt human freedom, but do not
think that can be explained only in the abstract, separating our lives
multitude of ingredients and conditioning aspects best dissertation writing service. For example, are equally
free the ignorant slaves, exploited, suffering misery? For Aquinas, surely
lighting faith or God could match us in the same order savior.
Perhaps potentially talk about freedom as
something possible is one thing to talk about what actually happens in the real
world, everyday, something completely different.
What about the role of God here? It is clear
that for Aquinas God is the key ordering, creator and maintainer of everything
that happens in human history and individual life, which should lead us back to
the bosom of God. Of course, another rooster crows here if we do not see God,
the metaphysical idea of God plays no role here, as with atheistic
materialism.
Conclusion
For everything you just said, I would
conclude that I agree in defining and differentiating role of human reason, but
without implying necessarily a distinction born of creation. The very concept
of a creature means to be a result of the creation. Thomas hopes that the
footprint of our origin lead us by the hand of reason beatific salvation,
because good is enrolled in our condition. Unfortunately, the twentieth century
full of wars and death industrial, has been commissioned to prove that our
condition is much more complex. And, of course, without getting into the role
of the idea of God no longer a metaphysical resource that has no place in a
materialistic nature ontological explanation.
